GTOCP5 Software Version Updates

The software for the Astro-Physics GTOCP5 Servo Control box can be updated to the latest version from this page by following the procedures below. We now offer two methods for updating your control box. Choose the one that is most suited to the connections you typically use.

Ethernet: If you have already established an ethernet connection, this may be the one to choose. This can be either a direct peer-to-peer connection or through a wired local network. WiFi is not currently allowed because it is generally less reliable than cabled Ethernet. If you are accustomed to updating your GTOCP4, you are familiar with the procedure already.

USB/Serial Utility. If you normally connect with a USB cable or USB-to-serial adapter, this utility provides a quick and easy way to update to your control box. The utility is a .jar file requires that Java be loaded on your computer. Java files can be used across a variety of platforms including Windows, Mac and Linux. However, the present version may not work with all Mac computers so be sure to have a Windows computer available as a backup or use the Ethernet method.

NOTE: The program package is a zip file located in a protected area of our website. To download the package, you will need the username and password that was provided in the cover letter that came with your mount's original documentation. If you do not have this information, please contact Astro-Physics, either by telephone (see below) or email addressed to support at astro-physics.com. Please provide us with your mount and/or serial number of your GTOCP5 when you contact us. The program package contains the following:

For All Ethernet and USB/Serial Loads:

Software components: Usually, this will include a Part 1 and a Part 2 file with extensions .pt1 and .pt2.
WiFi upgrade: WiFi_A404.wif. For the GTOCP4 only. All GTOCP5 control boxes have this version.

For Ethernet Load:

Instructions for installing the new software through a browser: Field_CP4_Download-browser.pdf. This is a .PDF format document so you must have Adobe Acrobat or another PDF reader installed to view it. The instructional documents are the same as for the GTOCP4 and have not been updated to reflect the GTOCP5. Additional information regarding the documentation:
** For all GTOCP5 control boxes, it does not matter if you load .pt1 or .pt2 first.
** The progress bar does not work properly in all cases and may suggest that the process has stopped when it has not.
FindMount.jar Java applet: Facilitates finding the GTOCP4 or GTOCP5's IP address. This is especially useful for non-Windows users. (See Field_CP4_Download instructions for details. You must have Java installed.)
E-net_WiFi_Poll_2016-0711.exe program: Enables ASCOM users to find the GTOCP4's IP address and open up its built-in Web page. (See Field_CP4_Download instructions for details)
Latlong-ip-calculator.html: Allows you to enter the CPx serial number and return the default IP address for the device. While the WiFi poll and FindMounts look at your actual system and find devices, this only does a basic calculation without looking into your computer. If the FindMounts or WiFi poll fail to detect a mount.

For USB/Serial Load:

USB/Serial Utility. You must have Java installed.
Instructions for the USB/Serial Utility. This utlity can be used to load using Windows, Mac or Linux computers. It also has a command terminal and access to networking features.

Click on the link below to start the download process. Enter the username and password when prompted to do so. Save the zip file to a convenient place. If you are using the USB/Serial Utility, you do not need to unzip the file.
